Starting Life as a Digital Nomad: Going from Bricks to Clicks

23 March 2024 was my final day on Hanham High Street, and what a fantastic six and a half years it's been. I am the happiest and proudest I have ever been and it’s all thanks everyone who supported the shop.
From now on, you can grab a cuppa and sit back and relax and shop our beautiful collections online. All of our lovely artists and makers will pack and ship their own creations, so you know that you're supporting a fantastic range of independent small businesses and spending your money where it matters.
Our Office Address is: Nicola Bartlett T/A The Eclectic Gift Shop, Henleaze House Business Centre, 13 Harbury Road, Henleaze, Bristol, BS9 4PN  - however, the quickest way to contact us is via email: nicola@eclecticgiftshop.co.uk
Thank you to everyone who gave me such a wonderful send off. To hear what the shop has meant to individuals and the positive impact on the wider community is so moving and I am incredibly proud.
There was so much laughter over the last few months, many jaws dropped too, new people visited every single day and you all showed me so much kindness that I was moved to tears on several occasions too.
On Hanham High Street, I learned how to set up and run a successful business. But it’s so much more than that. There are thousands of faces I will remember for the rest of my life. The conversations we had, the kindness you showed me. I leave the High Street a better, more confident, happier person.
And because of that, I still hope to have a connection with Hanham and am excited about launching the very first Eclectic Christmas Market on 23 November so I will see you all in eight months time. Until then, please do stay in touch. I will miss you and I will want to hear from you.
Ditching the bricks for clicks is going to bring so many challenges and I am probably not aware of half of them yet, but I am looking forward to learning something new and the freedom that a new digital way of working will bring.
I feel so privileged that the technology exists to allow me to continue championing small businesses from anywhere that I have an Internet connection. My home will always be Bristol, but I am looking forward to exploring more parts of the world with the freedom that working digitally will bring.
